When a hearthling (player) dies, he or she leaves a skeletal corpse behind. So far, corpses have no function outside of existing as liftable objects.
Being near a corpse will result in your happiness slowly depleting until it is as low as it can possibly get. Before a player turns into a corpse you may loot the player if you have the skill Theft.
