A mudflat is identified by a barren (with exception to boulders), brown dirt area, only inhabited by the occasional stray animal. While mudflats cannot be plowed, you can pave or plant grass on them. It is also possible to build directly on them, though inadvisable because of decay. If you dig in a mudflat it is possible that you may be able to find acre clay.
People prefer to call mudflats "Deserts".
