I thought it might be interesting to write a newbie blog since well.......I'm a newbie. I started this game a few days ago and I'm already obsessed with it. I don't do a lot of games like this so it is a huge learning experience for me.
Okay, so I created my first character without bothering to read the How-to or Forum....big mistake. I, of course, ended up in the wilderness with no idea of what on earth I was doing or was supposed to do. I got attacked by a boar twice. I had a strange encounter with the green dryad thing. I could of sworn it attacked me. I blinked and found myself on the ground with this thing leaning over me. I must of been mistaken because no one else has reported such an incident. The green thing was definitely kneeling next to me but I am assuming I must have missed the bear attack. I managed to survive by wandering aimlessly into the swamp and accidentally leeching myself. I traveled back to my hearth fire and started reading the help stuff. Some of it is confusing because the people who write the information are using abbreviations for words and categories and are forgetting that newbies don't know what they are talking about. Anyway, I learned how to build a lean-to, start a fire and make a spruce bed. I'm ashamed to admit that I have yet to catch my first fish because apparently, this is one of the easiest things to do. I have gotten several rabbits and a couple of chickens and have learned that you still have to spend learning points to increase skill levels after you purchase the initial skill. I have also learned that the foods you eat effect your character also. (If fish effect intelligence, I'm doomed to be an idiot!)
I'm still plodding along and plan to keep writing about my feeble attempts at greatness here so check back in once in a while.
